Newborn Checklist/What to Bring!
Congrats, you've booked your Newborn session with us!
Below you'll find a few helpful hints on what to do ahead of time and things you'll want to bring to your appointment:
* Be sure you've completed your "Session Planning" questions at the end of your contract. We will use this information to style your baby's session.
* Plan your wardrobe: We don't insist on any specific colors or styles, but we do ask that you generally coordinate clothing amongst family members so your look is cohesive and your photographic artwork will compliment your home's unique style. Take inspiration from internet searches and/or the colors and decor of your home. Avoid large patterns, character tees and corporate logos which can be distracting in photographs.
* Consider dressing in layers, our studio is intentionally kept warm to keep baby comfortable during the session.
* Clothing should be free of wrinkles and pet hair.
* We have a nice selection of carefully chosen newborn attire, made especially for newborn photography (wraps, footed knit onsies & overalls, hats, bonnets and headbands). If you would like to bring something special of your own, feel free. Keep in mind clothing for newborn photography must be well-fitting.
* Fingernails should be neat and clean on all family members. Some shots may include closer-up views of parent's and/or sibling's hands with the baby.
* Siblings should have clean feet, sometimes we pose siblings barefoot to create a cozy, releaxed look.
* Consider bringing along something special/sentimental you may want worked into some photos (handmade blanket, crib card, a meaningful momento, etc).
* Feed baby as close to the session time as possible so they are nice and sleepy for arrival. If you are not breastfeeding, bring enough pumped milk or formula for 1-2 feedings. Newborns eat more frequently during a photo session.
* Babies need to be calm and sleepy during posing. Please bring a pacifier if your baby takes one. We also ask that baby does not take any extended naps just prior to the session if possible - they are more than welcome to sleep during their session with us :-)
* We have a changing table with disposable pads, wipes and newborn size diapers. If you are partial to your brand or your baby requires a larger size, you'll want to bring your own.
* We provide light refreshments coffee, (bottled water, snacks). Please do not bring snacks for siblings that may stain their skin or clothing.
* Photo sessions typically run 2-3 hours. Please review this time commitment with everyone. Siblings can be sent home with a family member after their photos are done or they can check out the community playground behind our studio with parental supervision.
